c. word order → how to determine the proper sequence of words

Plus
COLLOCATIONS
a.word partnerships → a collocation is a combination of words which frequently occur together
b. how words work together → appropriate handling of collocations helps learners sound more precise, more natural and more accurate
IDIOMS
a.fixed expressions in everyday conversation → an idiom is a group of words in a fixed order that has a figurative meaning conventionally fixed and understood by native speakers
b. using idioms to sound natural and fluent → I help students learn and understand idioms by organising them in a proper context
HOW TO USE A DICTIONARY
a.no bilingual dictionaries → most ESL learners use bilingual dictionaries because they desperately want translations. Actually, just translating an English word into your own language is useless. It’s a passive, fruitless effort
b.I provide guidance to learners on how to use a monolingual dictionary only
By using a monolingual dictionary you can
-find out grammatical information about a word
-find the synonyms and antonyms of a word
-look up the collocations of a word
In other words, you have to think in English
FORMAL VS INFORMAL REGISTER
a.using the appropriate register for the appropriate context → most ESL learners cannot associate the formal and informal language with particular choices of grammar, vocabulary and collocation
b.understanding registers → how to use different registers in different contexts
